Taira Gainer is festival princess.
Taira Nicole Gainer of Elkins has been appointed Princess for the 74th Mountain State Forest Festival by Director General Kenna Barger. Taira is the daughter of Phil and Tammy Gainer of Elkins. She is the granddaughter of William and Glenna Phillips of Elkins and Thelma and the late Glen Gainer, Jr. of Elkins. She has two brothers, Seth and Nathan.
Taira is a 2010 graduate of Elkins High School where she graduated in the top 10 in her class and was a local and national honor roll student. She was a member of National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Thespian National Honor Society, Class Council, Prom Council, and Who’s Who Among American Students. She was also the EHS Student Council Vice President and captain of the soccer team where she earned Second Team All Conference Honors.
Taira attended Rhododendron Girls State and was the 2009 Homecoming Representative in the Homecoming Court. Additionally, she was Second Runner Up and Miss Congeniality for Miss WV Teen 2008. She has earned the Promise Scholarship and G. Berry Belmont Scholarship and has been employed at Bob Evans. She enjoys soccer, hiking, fishing, basketball, reading and music. She attends West Virginia University and is majoring in Design Studies and Advertising.
