MSFF Queen's Quilt squares still available.
Individuals interested in participating in the Mountain State Forest Festival Queen's Quilt Block Contest for 2011 Queen Silvia LXXV may still do so.
"Participation was down last year and so for this year as well" a Queen's Quilt Committee spokesperson said. "We encourage anyone who might be interested to take part."
The contest, which is open to the general public, is sponsored by the Randolph County CEOS (Community Educational Outreach Service). formerly know as Extention Homemakers.
All entries must consist of West Virginia deciduous leaf shapes, hand-or machine appliqued to the supplied square, and be the sole work of the entrant. Only one entry for judging is allowed per individual.
Completed entries must be delivered to the West Virginia University Extension Service office by 4:30 pm May 10 in order to be judged.
Particiant ribbons and certificates will be presented to all the entrants. First, Second and Third place winners will receive Forest Festival plaques and $25, $15, and $10 gift certificates, respectively, from the Elkins Sewing Center.
The winners will be announced at the opening ceremony of the Mountain State Forest Festival.
